12 Ways To Simplify Your Life: In 10 Minutes Or Less

Life can be complicated, but it doesn’t have to be! Below I will share with you “12 Ways You Can Simplify Your Life in 10 Minutes or Less.” We live in a materialistic society that only functions if we continue to spend. Social media makes us develop unhealthy habits where we often compare ourselves to people we perceive to be better off than we are. Have you ever purchased something because someone else had it or as an attempt to look like them? At one point, we’ve all been caught in that dangerous never-ending cycle. I am here to tell you that you can actually put an end to that vicious cycle! All you have to do is change your mindset and focus on simplifying your life.

To start off, simplifying your life doesn’t mean you need to sacrifice. I am not here to tell you to get rid of all the non-essential things you own or to become an extreme minimalist. To simplify your life you must understand that this is a voluntary act (not a sacrifice) and completely up to you! Having nice things is off course “nice”, but remind yourself that the best things in life aren’t things. Don’t make owning nice things your top priority in life, instead focus on being content with what you already have. (Check out my last article on: How To Be Content With What You Have: 7 Simple Steps). Most of us have way more than we actually need.

Here are the “12 Ways You Can Simplify Your Life in 10 Minutes or Less”:

12 Ways to Simplify Your Life

12 Ways You Can Simplify Your Life in 10 Minutes or Less:

1. Declutter Your Closet:

If you don’t remember the last time you’ve worn it, it might be time to get rid of it! Rule of Thumb: If you haven’t worn it in one year, it’s time to donate it. If you don’t want to donate and need extra cash there’s many clothing apps where you can sell your new or gently used clothes or house items.

2. Unsubscribe To Emails:

Is your phone constantly blowing up with emails and causing you to stress out plus taking away your attention from important things? Unsubscribe from companies you don’t want/need anymore.

3. Unplug from Social Media for a Day:

This might seem like a huge task at first, especially to those addicted to social media apps. But if you unplug and log off from all social media apps for at least a day you will see how it changes your life for the better!

4. Practice Being Content With What You Have:

5. Sign Up to Volunteer For a Good Cause:

Signing up can take you only 10 minutes or less! Volunteering for a worthy cause is a fast way to help you put your life into perspective and you will realize what truly matters in life.

6. Be More Conscious of Your Spending:

Do you really need what you’re buying? Take a quick look at your bank account and decide on whether or not you’re spending your money wisely. It is also important to address your debt. Don’t throw it under the rug and hope it goes away, because trust me it won’t magically disappear.

7. Organize for 10 Minutes Each Day:

Organizing everything can be incredibly time consuming and draining! However, if you dedicate 10 minutes a day to organizing something whether it’s a countertop, drawer, or your own closet then the overall task won’t seem so daunting. Having organization will keep your life less cluttered and you will overall feel better!

8. Get Rid of Non-Enhancing Arrangements:

Everything we decide to do in life is to enhance our very own lives. Arrangements can be anything from jobs, relationships, careers, diets, etc. If your current relationship is no longer making you happy and enhancing your life it is time to get rid of it. The same can be said about other arrangements or commitments you have in your life. We often have so many arrangements that we become completely tangled, so only keep the ones that are truly enhancing you!

9. Don’t Put a Time Limit on Your Goals:

It’s great to be ambitious and have goals in life, but don’t place a time limit on your goals! Placing a time limit on your goals can make you feel overwhelmed and stressed and immediately complicates your life. We often tend to give up because we didn’t reach our goal in so-so year, so by placing a time limit on our own goals we are cutting our own tree before it bears its fruit.

10. Declutter Your Car:

Cars easily get filled with junk or trash you collected over time. Bring a trash can into your car and start throwing away the trash and take out anything that doesn’t belong in your car.

11. Learn to Complain Less:

Living a simpler life is being able to feel blessed with your own life. Learn how to stop complaining and how to stop thinking negatively. Read: How To Stop Thinking Negatively: 10 Powerful Techniques.

12. Create a Night Ritual:

Prep for the next day the night prior that way your upcoming day will flow with more ease. A night ritual can simply involve doing a meal prep, deciding your work outfit, packing your bag, etc. The whole point is to get free from those tangles that make mornings a hassle.

The Benefits of a Simplistic Lifestyle:

  • True Joy & Happiness- “Happiness is simple when you keep it simple.”- Gary Vee. By living a simplistic lifestyle you will see that happiness is in our enriched life experiences, not in the things we own or how much money we have in our wallet. Happiness is as simple as sitting under a tree, spending time with loved ones, or volunteering for a worthy cause.
  • A Less Cluttered Life- Numerous possessions leads to more commitments and time you have to spend cleaning and organizing. Naturally fewer possessions means less clutter, so less clutter means more freedom and more time for yourself to do what you truly love!
  • You’re Able to Put Life into Perspective- Having a simplistic lifestyle allows you to see life with a clear set of eyes. Now you don’t overreact over situations that weren’t really all that serious. You see life for what it is and you feel lucky for having the life that only some can dream of.
  • Improvement in Yourself & In Relationships- When you simplify your life you will become more relaxed, confident, and less stressed. You will find that because your cup is now full you will be more willing to give to others and receive love from those around you.
  • Better Physical & Mental Health- By living simply you will have more time to move and breathe aside from your usual daily routine hustle. You will also be empowered to follow a more healthy diet, practice self-care and indulge on what makes your body feel good.
